Eating a healthy breakfast is one of the most important factors in meeting healthy weight goals. A healthy breakfast helps jump-start your metabolism and give your body energy to start the day off right. Eating healthy can also improve your overall health, even if you don’t realize it. In this article, we’ll take a look at some healthy breakfast options that are great for weight loss.

Of course, there are tons of healthy breakfast options out there. For example, a quick sandwich might be your best bet for a quick and easy meal. You can always buy prepackaged sandwich fillings, but if you’re not a fan of the deli sandwiches, which are my personal favorite, then why not make your own? You could use low fat or nonfat cheddar cheese on your deli sandwich and add vegetables or meat to make it more filling. Also, instead of using the deli sandwich as your main healthy breakfast choice, try using other items such as a fresh fruit or vegetable wrap, a bowl of soup, or a bagel with hummus.

For something a little more involved but still healthy, consider having an oatmeal and apple crisp. The secret is to have a glass of skim milk, add about two tablespoons of honey and mix it up. Then top off with the apple and oatmeal and enjoy your healthy breakfast options. It is a completely different feel than the traditional oatmeal and apple crisp that’s usually served at the breakfast table.

Another healthy breakfast options is egg toast. An egg or even two different egg recipes are usually better for you than one large egg because they tend to stay hotter for a longer period of time. This allows you to spread them out evenly if you like, or you can break them into smaller pieces. Just remember to keep the toppings simple; usually a slice of fruit or a piece of hard-boiled eggs are sufficient.

One of the easiest healthy breakfast options is a bowl of cereal with some fruit thrown on top. Sometimes adding a few nuts or a small piece of dark chocolate or other food can take this from a simple meal prep idea to a truly unique and delicious treat. One tip that I would give you is to always try serving your cereal cold; that way you don’t have to add any extra hot or cold items to it.

Another great healthy breakfast options are the English muffins. Although you may think they’re not healthy, they actually are. In fact, whole grains like the amaranth and quinoa are packed with nutrients that are great for you to boost your metabolism, burn fat, and get full longer. English muffins also happen to be one of the best carbohydrates around; you can eat plenty and never gain more than a few gram’s of carbs!

One of the things I love about whole grains is that they have a very low-calorie level, which makes them excellent healthy breakfast options as well. For instance, you can buy low-fat or fat-free versions of cereals that still contain lots of the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals you need every day. Many brands even offer sugar-free versions, which can make your transition to whole grains much easier. When buying cereals, try to stick with the fluffier ones, especially wheat products. If you opt for the buckwheat or amaranth version, look for one that is low in refined sugar as well. Whole grains are also packed with iron, which is necessary to provide your body with essential nutrients every day.

Bottom Line

One last great healthy breakfast option is to indulge in a large bowl of grits with some fresh fruit dip. Grits like the soul food style are loaded with a number of nutrients including fiber, calcium, iron, and a host of other vitamins and minerals, and they are also low in calories. For this reason, they are an excellent choice for healthy breakfast options. If you do purchase grits, however, be sure to look for those that are made without hydrogenated oil, high fructose corn syrup, and artificial preservatives. You want to avoid anything that contains these harmful ingredients because they will do more harm than good for your body over time.
